Basic Troubleshooting Printing Quality in HP LaserJet Printers

HP Laserjet printers are designed to deliver high-impact, color marketing materials to improve one business’ productivity. It also can create impressive color marketing materials in the office on a range of media, including HP specialty papers.

But like other printers in the market, the HP LaserJet printers not exempted in having printing problems. And that’s why for today’s article, we’re going to give the basic troubleshooting procedures when it comes to fixing the usual printing quality issues you face with your HP LaserJet printer:

Problem: (1) Toner is smearing on the printed pages, (2) Repeated marks occur on thecatchAllTheErrors-615x461 printed pages, (3) Printed pages are curled, (4) Toner flakes off the printed pages, (5) Printed pages have small unprinted areas

Solution 1: Check the paper-type setting

  1. From the software program, select the Print option.
  2. Select the product, and then click the Properties or Preferences button.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. From the Paper type drop-down list, click the More… option.
  5. Expand the list of Type is: options.
  6. Expand each category of paper types until you find the paper type that you are using.
  7. Select the option for the type of paper you are using, and then click the OK button.

Solution 2: Check toner cartridge status

  1. At the control panel, press the OK button to open the menus.9-26-Printer-Problems-300x186
  2. Open the Reports menu.
  3. Select the Supplies Status item, and then press the OK button to print the report.

Solution 3: Check and print the supplies status page

  1. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Setup button.
  2. Touch the Reports button.
  3. Touch the Supplies Status button to print the report.

Solution 4: Print a cleaning page

  1. At the control panel, press the OK button to open the menus.
  2. Open the following menus: (1) Service, (2) Cleaning Page
  3. Load plain paper in Tray 1, and then press the OK button to start the cleaning process.
  4. The product prints the first side and then prompts you to remove the page from the output bin and reload it in Tray 1, keeping the same orientation (the side with the black stripe should be face-down with the arrow toward the back of the product).
  5. Press the OK button to continue the cleaning process. Wait until the process is complete. Discard the page that prints.

But any other printer, the HP LaserJet printers are vulnerable to paper jams and if you’re using one of these machines. Here are steps on how you can clear the paper jams in the right covers of your printer when it got stuck in your printer component.

Clearing Paper Jams in the Right Covers

  • Step 1 – Using the handles, open the covers on the right side of the printer.download (5)
  • Step 2 – If media is present in the upper area, grasp the media by both corners and pull down.
  • Step 3 – If media is present in the lower area, grasp the media by both corners and pull up.
  • Step 4 – Grasp the green handle on the transfer unit and pull down to open it.
  • Step 5 – If media is present in the upper area, grasp the media by both corners and pull down.
  • Step 6 – If media is present in the lower area, grasp the media by both corners and pull up.
  • Step 7 – Lift the green handle on the fuser cover to open the cover.
  • Step 8 – Pull the fuser upward to remove any paper. Then lift the green handle on the duplexer cover to open it. Read more…

How to Fix Broken Glasses on Canon ImageCLASS Scanner

If you happen to accidentally broke your Canon ImageCLASS scanner and been fretting about it for a while, don’t worry, the glass can easily be replaced anytime. And that’s what we’re going to discuss in today’s tutorial, on how you can replace the broken glass of your Canon ImageCLASS scanner.

These steps are applicable to any Canon MFPs with scan functions.

First and foremost, always remember that the broken glass can cause damage to you and things around you so make sure to take extreme precaution when replacing it.

  1. Lift up the lid of your Canon ImageCLASS printer then examine the glass. Handle the glass with extreme care if broken.
  2. Locate the black and white hinges, then gently lift it out.
  3. Next, locate and remove the four 10mm screws.
  4. Gently, pry off the top plate, starting from the back of the printer.
  5. Once you have taken off the plate, make sure that there is no broken glass left. If there is broken glass handle it with gloves.
  6. Take out the damaged glass and fit the replacement glass to the printer according to the picture.
